All camps run Monday-Friday 9am-3pm. Before + after care options available for an additional cost.

March 29th 2025 at 10am – Registration opens for members + scholarship families.

April 5th 2025 at 10am – Registration opens to the public

CAMP REGISTRATION COSTS

$350/week - Non Members

$315/week - Members

At The Powerhouse we are dedicated to keeping our program costs accessible to all, so please reference the scholarship application above to see if you qualify for a financial scholarship!

 

BEFORE + AFTER CARE

Our camps run Monday-Friday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Extended care is before camp Monday- Friday at 8:00am and after camp Monday- Thursday from 3:00pm-5:00pm.

During early morning extended care, campers will be able to explore the Gallery space, playing and discovering during adult-monitored free-play.

Those staying for after care will be walked to the Gallery Backyard, where they will have snack and free play until 4:00. From 4:00-5:00, campers will have play and game time in the Gallery.  Campers must be picked up by 5:00 pm.

Before and after camp care are bundled into one registration. Registration is for the whole week, but families can pick and choose the days that care is needed.

Cost: $75 (Members $69) for all 5 days

RISING 1ST-2ND GRADE CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

In this Super Powered camp, learn all about energy! Using the process of gathering, storing, transporting, and using energy, campers will work together in small teams to create and code a Super Powered Lego model of energy. This camp teaches the foundations of coding, all while having fun with Legos!

Encourage creativity and curiosity with this engineering camp! In Future Inventors, campers will work together to solve problems by building- and rebuilding- their own solutions. Learning about the engineering process along the way, campers will cultivate innovative problem solving and super fun building techniques to power their imagination and inventions!

Bring out your wild side with this nature-based camp! Using activities from Project WILD by the Council for Environmental Education, campers will learn all about the wild world around us, from habitats and natural areas to some of Earth’s furry friends.

If you love science that makes others say “ewwwwww,” then this camp is for you. Mud, slime, water, and the human body, if it makes you go “yuck,” then it’s here! Do experiments with gross materials, learn the wonders of nature’s grossest offerings, and learn gross science facts in this ooey-gooey camp!

If all things dinosaurs are all you need, this camp is for you! Our young Paleontologists will dive in to the lives of dinosaurs, from adaptations that helped them survive, to the traces they leave behind. From the fiercest dino lover to the newest learner, there’s a dino for everyone in Dino Dig!

Keep in mind the insect kind in this bug-filled camp! Using some live specimens and some great imagination, dive deep into the world of our smallest friends. From life cycles to habitats, cool bodies to taking flight, this camp will bring out the insect-lover in you!

RISING 3RD-4TH GRADE CAMPS DESCRIPTIONS

Join us  for this great coding and engineering camp! Using an underwater adventure to guide our journey, campers will learn about deep sea exploration, mysteries of the deep, and marine biology. Working in small teams to design new and exciting Lego structures, campers will learn the foundations of coding, and build on their knowledge to make models interesting and exciting through coding! 

Head in the stars? Dreaming of outer space? Then this camp is for you! Follow your astronaut dreams and learn all about the planets, moons, spaceflight and more in this camp made for space enthusiasts and planet fanatics with their eyes on the cosmos.

Learn the scientific method and design experiments for some of the craziest myths out there in this camp. Are there more germs on a doorknob than a toilet seat? Can popping candy and soda really make your stomach explode? Test these and more in this experiment-filled camp!

The great outdoors, here we come! In this camp, we’ll learn practical skills to use in the outdoors- emergency shelters, fire building, and more! We’ll discuss natural disasters, as well as how to be a helper in extreme events. This camp is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors!

Durango Dance and the Powerhouse are teaming up for some body-based science! Engage in amazing dance lessons with Durango Dance, and learn all about body systems at The Powerhouse.

No dance experience is  required- let’s get moving and grooving!

RISING 5TH-6TH GRADE CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Celebrate history’s female innovators and inspire the next generation of women in STEM! In this girls-only camp, work through a different field in science each day, while spotlighting the women who paved the way for today’s girls in STEM. Daily topics include engineering, technology, coding, cooking, and biology.

Get your hands busy with planting, harvesting and cooking! Learn where ingredients come from and how to turn them into tasty, nourishing snacks. This camp includes awesome field trips to community gardens and local kitchens, as well as experiments in the kitchen!

Design, engineer, and battle your very own Judo Bot in this awesome maker camp! Engage in the engineering process as you build and test your bot, then refine your work to make the very best Judo Bot in the Royal!

Jump into a cadre of young conservationists with the mission of learning more about our local trails and hopping onto sustainability projects happening in Durango’s own backyard. Join local conservation projects, learn about the history of conservation in the Southwest, and get outdoors  in this hands-on experience in nature and ecology.

RISING 6TH-8TH GRADE CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Curiosity meets discovery as junior scientists explore the ‘The Unseen World’! Professors from Fort Lewis College will be taking students on a unique journey that transcends our senses in this immersive summer camp for rising 6-8th graders.

Fort Lewis College professors will cover topics in subject areas such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Geosciences, Anthropology, and Health & Social Sciences.

Cancellation + Refund Policy

We understand that the future is not always certain, and try to keep a flexible refund policy for all of our camp families! Please read below for our updated refund/cancellation policy:

Request date change for a camp more than three weeks prior to the start date – NO ADDITIONAL COSTS

Cancel more than three weeks prior to start date: 85% refund

Cancel within three weeks of the start date: 85% refund ONLY IF THE POWERHOUSE IS ABLE TO FILL THE CAMP SPOT WITH ANOTHER REGISTRATION. If the spot cannot be filled you will receive a 50% refund.

If The Powerhouse has to suspend activities for any reason or if you need to keep your child home for a documented COVID-related reason, prorated refunds will be given to participants.

If your child is dismissed from The Powerhouse due to disciplinary issues, no refund will be given.

Please do not register for the same camp topic twice. Camp curriculum will be the same, and we love to keep things fresh and new for all campers.
