Calling all Mad Scientists! We’re looking to add more motivated, STEM loving educators to our team. The STEM Educator + Mad Scientist facilitates and executes various education programs including but not limited to field trips, public outreach, demos, after school programs, and camps. They assist in curriculum development and compilation, as well as, program organization, implementation, and evaluation. The STEM Educator + Mad Scientist also contributes feedback toward programmatic goals, program effectiveness, and content quality.
Leading candidates must be proficient in science and able to lead groups through hands-on science activities with superb communication skills, innovative, interactive life performances, demonstrations, and conversations. Candidates must have experience working with children, teaching experience preferred, and the ability to work with all ages. They must be capable of writing, prototyping, and revising science lesson plans, as well as, organizing and gathering science materials needed to implement education programs. Leading candidates must be able to securely handle monetary payments and liability forms from each student and be able to communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
The successful candidate will work in both the public program world and the education program world and will therefore need to be flexible, amiable, demonstrate self-initiative, foster good time management skills, have an open mind, and be willing to be an around-the-clock representative of the museum.
This is a part-time position with competitive pay. The position requires daytime and after-school hours, as well as, occasional evening and weekend work. Flexibility is mandatory.
