The Powerhouse Science Center is very excited to welcome Brian McDonagh to the Powerhouse team as MakerLab Director. Brian will lead the effort to open the doors of the MakerLab, Durango’s first community makerspace, this summer and has hit the ground running since joining the staff in late April.
Brian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new position, having studied in Ireland and graduated university with a degree in materials and construction technology in education. He has held prominent positions in London, New Zealand, and South Korea at both public and private institutions working with tools and technology.
I’m very excited to empower the community by offering access to high end machinery, experts in related fields, and a wealth of knowledge to encourage makers of all ages.
Brian and his wife currently reside in Durango; and in addition to tools, teaching, and technology, he enjoys kayaking, kitesurfing, and woodworking. Welcome, Brian!
MakerLab is a Powerhouse initiative focused on creating Durango’s first community design, fabrication, prototyping, and tinkering facility for artistic, technological, and creative pursuits. Equipment available to MakerLab members will include an electronics lab, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC mill, industrial sewing equipment, and more. To get involved, visit powsci.org/makerlab.
