Camp Discovery Educator
(Summer-Long)

Educators with Camp Discovery are responsible for up to 15 students aged 6 and up. Camps are divided by age range, providing weekly themed instruction on exciting science topics. Join us for the summer-long experience May 30-August 18, with seven teaching weeks, two roving assistant weeks, 2 paid weeks off, and discounted enrollment for your camper!

STEM Education Team Member

This position is a key member of the Education team with an emphasis on curriculum design, lesson planning, and teaching focusing on science education. This position also oversees Science Fair. Must enjoy working with children. A positive, fun, friendly, and outgoing personality is important.

Director of Advancement

The Director of Advancement is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Powerhouse’s philanthropic mission and community engagement, sustaining an annual fundraising goal of $450,000 and preparing for a significant capital campaign. This person will direct all fundraising activities, including but not limited to individual giving, sponsorships and corporate giving, grant writing, stewardship, and fundraising events. This person will also collaborate with fellow staff members to develop marketing strategies to help grow campus visits, membership, third party rentals, and program participation.

STEM Education Team Member

Visitor Tech
(aka Friendly Neighborhood Scientist)

The person in the Visitor Tech position is responsible for greeting guests, gathering admissions, assisting floor operations, and maintaining an atmosphere of fun. An ideal candidate would be outgoing, welcoming, positive, organized, energetic, and good with children.

Satellite Camp Coordinator
(Americorps Position)

The satellite camp coordinator will be charged with running the Powerhouse’s satellite summer Camp Discovery program. Camps will run in Cortez during June, and Pagosa Springs in August. The Satellite Camp Coordinator will be tasked with preparing for these camps in May and July, including finalizing registrations, purchasing and organizing supplies, and setting up classroom spaces. During the months that camps are running, the Satellite Camp Coordinator will be running check-in and -out, supervising camp interns, overseeing lunches, and providing classroom and facility support during the camp day.
